Meet The Chef
Andy Matsuda

Chef Andy Matsuda, born near Kobe, Japan in 1956, discovered his passion for cooking at his family’s Japanese restaurant at the age of 9. After apprenticing at ‘Genpachi’ in Osaka and joining the ‘Yosei-kai’ Sushi Chef Organization, he returned to his hometown to expand the family business. At 25, he embarked on a new journey in Los Angeles, swiftly rising to Chief Sushi Chef. Despite battling Colon Cancer at 36, Matsuda’s resilience led him to realize the profound connection between food, health, and gratitude. In 2002, he founded the “Sushi Chef Institute” in downtown Los Angeles, sharing his expertise with aspiring chefs worldwide.
